I OWE MY VICTORY TO GOD—Hon. Kasunmu




HON. ADEDAMOLA RICHARD KASUNMU (ARK)
Newly elected member of Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon (Prince) Adedamola Richard Kasunmu has attributed his historic victory in last Saturday’s election to Divine intervention. Kasunmu, who contested on the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC) for Ikeja Constituency 02 seat,  won the election by a total of 19,909 votes while his closest rival, Prince Amidu Arubo of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) got 14,147 votes. Other political parties who contested in the election include Alliance for Democracy (AD), All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), Labour Party (LP) and National Conscience Party (NCP). Declaring the final results at the end of collation of Sunday morning at the Central Primary School, Ikeja GRA, INEC Returning Officer Dr Dele Ashiru stated, “That Prince Adedamola Richard Kasunmu of the All Progressive Congress having satisfied the requirements of the law and scored the highest number of votes is hereby declared the winner and is returned elected.”

Speaking at his Ikeja campaign office shortly he was declared the winner, Prince Kasunmu said “First and foremost I give all the Glory to God Almighty who made this victory possible. We have been on this electioneering for that last couple of months and just when we thought the D-Day was here, the election was shifted by those who were afraid of change and we had to start all over again, but we remained steady, focused and determined. It was not an easy task. The road to this victory was very rough and the process was rigorous. But today we have achieved total victory” he said. Speaking further, Hon. Kasunmu said “I seize this opportunity to express my sincere appreciation to all our Party leaders who gave me the opportunity to contest this election in the first place. I also appreciate all our party members and constituents who supported me and worked day and night to ensure that I won this election. This victory is for all of you and I promise to work hard to justify the confidence you all reposed in me”. A Lawyer by training, Hon (Prince) Adedamola Richard Kasunmu, popularly addressed as ARK, was educated at Kings College, Lagos and University of Wolverhampton, United Kingdom. A nephew of APC National Leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, his grandmother, Alhaja (Dr) Abibatu Mogaji of blessed memory was the Iyaloja-General of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Kasunmu defeated his PDP counterpart with over 5000 votes.
