Pix(up) shows the groom unveiling his bride, while 2ndPics(above) shows the groom's parents all the way from America dressed in Nigerian Aso-Oke as a mark of respect for the bride's culture..on the couples left are the bride's parents..the couple met in the United States where the bride resides and started on a friendship note before finally deciding to be husband and wife. they will be returning to the US where they plan to set up a home immediately after the wedding..a good example of cross-cultural marriage.


9ICE SET TO BAG CHIEFTAINCY TITLE
Gongo-Aso crooner, Abolore Adegbola Akande a.k.a 9ICE is about to become a chieftaincy title holder. METROGIST-NIGERIA gathered that 9ice have been nominated for the title of Amuludun of Oshogboland by His Royal Majesty, Oba Iyiola Matanmi, The Ataoja of Osogbo, Osun State, Nigeria. Gist reaching us indicates that 9ice is being honoured with the title for his proficiency in the use of Yoruba proverbs smoothly in his lyrics. The installation comes up very soon and thereafter, be ready address him as “Chief 9ice”. The guy, who shot into national limelight with his super hit song, Gongo Aso has been ruling the Nigerian airwaves for quite a while now. However, it is not yet clear whether Mr 9ICE has accepted the offer or not, It is also not yet clear whether his wife, beautiful Toni, will also be installed as Yeye Amulundun of Oshogbo, as it is the practice these days in the south west Nigeria. Let’s wait and watch sha!

NIGERIAN STARS DOMINATE CHANNEL O’s AWARD LIST
Nigeria’s final take-over of the Africa’s entertainment scene is about to be confirmed again, this time in Nelson Mandela’s own land. Feelers reaching METROGIST-NIGERIA indicate that, the list of nominees for the forthcoming 2008 Channel O’s music video awards is dominated by Nigerian acts. The awards, known as the SPIRIT OF AFRICA MUSIC VIDEO AWARD has the likes of D’Banj, 2Face, Psqure, Asa, Sasha, Naeto C, Ikechukwu, KC Phresh, Face, Baba Dee, Mo hits, Dae Art-Alade and others as nominees for various categories. The award proper comes up in October 9, 2008 in South Africa
JAMIU MKO-ABIOLA SURVIVES DEADLY CANCER
Alhaji Jamiu, one of the sons of the late Bashorun MKO Abiola, “the posthumous winner of June 12, 1993 Presidential elections” in Nigeria, has reasons to thank Allah recently. Heard that Jamiu, who lost both parents (his mum is the late Kudirat Abiola) to the June 12 struggle almost died as a result of a disease diagnosed as cancer in his body. But thank God for His mercy, the guy survived after a series of surgical operations both in Nigeria and Saudi Arabia. He is now alive and kicking.
KC PHRESH’S MUM CRITICALLY ILL
KC PHRESH is a prominent hip hop music duo in Nigeria. Some of their recent hits include “Sengemenge” and “Sokori”. But right now, everything seems not to be ‘sengemenge’ with the guys at all. METROGIST-NIGERIA scooped that the mother of KC (the taller one), is critically down with the dreaded decease called diabetes and all efforts to get her treated seem not to be yielding much result. Because of this, KC is said to be making plans to fly her abroad for medical attention.
Meanwhile, the new album from KC PHRESH, entitled GET READY, which was released on August 1st, 2008 is said to be doing well already while the musical video for two tracks in the album, “You said you love me” and “My only desire” are also ready for the air waves.
JUJU SINGER, ADE OLUSAYO IS DEAD
Notable Juju music singer in Nigeria, Adewale Olusayo is dead. METROGIST-NIGERIA gathered that the King Sunny Ade sing-alike gave up the ghost in his home in Ota, Ogun state suburb, on Monday August 11,2008 after a protracted battle with an undisclosed illness. Popularly known as President Ade Olusayo, his debut album entitled MESSAGE was released in 1995. He died at 56, may his soul rest in peace.
OJEMBA PRESENTER, CHRIS ANOKURU IS ALSO DEAD
Top Igbo broadcaster, Chief Chris Anokuru has also joined his ancestors. The late Anokuru was the presenter of the popular Igbo language society programme OJEMBA, on Africa Independent Television (AIT), in Nigeria. Chris, aged 47, was claimed by acute diabetes on August 5. He is survived by his wife and children
